Rabi-'ul Awwal 12, 1435
The twelfth of Rabi-'ul Awwal was the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
This day is considered by the Muslim all over the world as the cause the birth of the Prophet was a mercy not only to the Muslim but to the whole humanity.
Allah (SWT) revealed in the Holy Qur'an:
"And We have not sent thee but as a mercy to the nations."
Surah Al Anbiya, 21:107
Muslim everywhere celebrate this day with great rejoicing.
This occasion is not for frivolity or pleasure-seeking, but an event of inner joy and happiness. Assemblies are held throughout the Muslim world to narrate the stories of the Prophet's birth, childhood, manhood, his preaching, his character, his suffering and his forgiveness of even his bitterest enemies, his fortitude in the face of general opposition, his emigration to Madinah, his treatment of others, his leadership in battles, and his final triumph, through God's mercy, over the hearts of men.
The 12th day of Rabi-'ul Awwal is not the only day on which the birthday of the Prophet is celebrated, rather the whole month of Rabi-'ul Awwal is commemorated as the "birth month" of the Prophet.
Allah said in the Holy Qur'an:
"God and His angels bless the Prophet. O ye who believe! (You too) bless him and salute him with worthy salutation.'
Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:56
