Why Islam also means Peace?

Submission and Obedience to Allah bring peace. That is why Islam also means Peace.
To begin to understand Islam. We start with our life around us.

In Islam, Life has a creator purpose:
The creator is Allah (SWT) who created us and everything around us and gave us life on earth as a transitory stage in which we are tested before moving on to eternal life.

Our condition in that eternal life is determined be the result of the test in this transitory life.

The Day of Judgement is the Day on which this determination is made.
Now, if the creator created life as a test for us, we should expect guidance from Him on how to succeed in the test.

In Islam, we believe that this guidance was sent to humanity throughout history through prophets including Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and finally Prophet Muhammad (PBUTA).

We believe that all of them preached the same message; the message of Islam or (submission of our will to Allah). We make no distinction between the prophets.

The claim of prophet hood was required because as time elapsed, the teaching of a prophet would be distorted, and people would divert from the straight path.

At such time, Allah (SWT) would send another prophet to correct the message, and in some cases add more details.

With the mercy of Allah (SWT) prophets were given miracles to help people accept them.

For Muslim, the Quran is their constitution, and the practice and saying of the prophet (Sunnah) are the interpretation and explanation of the constitution.

Our life is a test, and we should live it according to Allah guidance (revealed in the Quran and explanation by our Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) over a period of 23 years).

Everything we in life is recorded in a book until we die. Then, after death, we will be resurrected on the Day of Judgement, where we will receive the book that contain our deeds and we will judged according to those deeds.

Those who did good deeds will be granted heavens and those who did bad deeds will go to FIRE, except for those who Allah grants mercy and forgiveness.

In summary, Muslim must live this life according to Allah's guidance in order to be successful. For the Muslims, this guidance comes from two sources:
  1. The Holy Quran, and
  2. The Sunnah, the teaching of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Allah (SWT) guaranteed to preserve his message the Quran, and the Sunnah, until the Day of judgement.

The Quran says:

"We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption."

Sura Al-Hijr, 15:9
